R.F. Maston
Robert Francis Maston Jr. (born 0ct. 5th 1987)
Domino is the second full length album from LA musician RF Maston. Like it's predecessor The Future (2007), it contains within it some of the most infectious and original songwriting in recent memory. Where it departs from his previous work is Maston's increased mastery of the studio, matched evenly with his more ambitious and complex arrangements.
Over a sea of jangly piano and percussion, RF layers the appropriate combination of strings, woodwinds, brass, xylophone, and harmonica to create a nostalgic and uniquely Californian record.
Maston's songs are diverse in tone and yet refreshingly consistent as they explore all avenues in the neighborhood of psychedelic pop. Singing in an earnest tenor bathed in reverb, he recounts tales of reading the stars, being thrown from horses, holy ghosts, and the love that will be wasted when the world ends.
Written and recorded entirely by RF Maston (who played most of the instruments as well), DOMINO earns this young artist a place of his own among this crowded new generation of musicians.
Domino will be released on Dec 8th in the US, with live dates in early 2010.
